Many believe that liberation can be achieved through the arts.  The Young & Powerful Group also embraces this philosophy.  Visual arts are headed by artists Charles Jean-Pierre and Rachel Crouch.  Cubie Coleman (DJ Premonition) is the music director.

Visual Artist: Charles Jean-Pierre

Charles Philippe Jean-Pierre is the co-founder of the Culture
District, an artist collective that campaigns for social development
through the visual arts. Their works can be categorized as fresh,
forward, and mindful. They are best known for their live art
performances, non for-profit work, and their involvement with 2008
election. They've created custom works for the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson,
Rapper Common, & Activist Mario Van Pebbles.

Politics played an instrumental role in Charles' childhood. He grew up
in a vibrant immigrant household listening to debates ranging from
dictatorships to world hunger. Firmly grounded in the community, he
accredits the strong sense of diversity in his art work to his
Caribbean and Afro-Latino roots. It is a pleasure to see how he
seamlessly blends graffiti, graphic, folk and a myriad of other
multi-media into his paintings.

Art for social change is the mantra for this burgeoning artist. His
art is a catalyst for social progress and change. In keeping with the
true essence of grass roots organizing, Charles skillfully uses the
arts to transform existing objects and forms to depict, critique, and
inspire our social world

Visual Artist: Rachel Crouch

"Every good painter paints what he is." - Jackson Pollock, American Abstract Expressionist artist.  This short phrase speaks to the long soulful journey of artist, Rachel D. Crouch.  This Chicago native was born an artist.  She produces work in varied media using color, texture, movement, and flow. Her pieces are about the impossible and the discovery of promise.  After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Howard University, Rachel pursued another one of her many passions, teaching.  Currently teaching Math at a juvenile detention center in Washington, DC, Rachel is instilling hope and providing opportunities for her students to be victorious in Math.
Music, life, limits, and change are just a few of the themes prevalent in Rachel's work.  Her poignant pieces are not only beautifully intoxicating stories, but also timeless works of art.  Indulge in the art of Rachel D. Crouch, where she tells her story, one painting at a time.  An affair of the senses is only a stroke away. – JLK
