Hello, my name is James Lavor Thompson, and I am the chairman for the Philadelphia Area, The Young & Powerful Group I am a graduate of West Virginia University with a BA in Political Science. My passion and love is Housing, Community, and Economic Development- all which I believe are important components to foster new leadership among the young, best and brightest.

As many of us may already know, we have a promising and unique opportunity to grow as young professionals to develop ourselves into the leaders of tomorrow. And based on the inspiring and proactive message of  President-elect Barrack Obama, we have been given a chance to develop ourselves through building our own successful networks rather than depending on "the old way of politics".

As one of the leaders of Philly YP, I plan to seek out and develop opportunities that would enable young professional to parrtner with area elected officials to encourage civic participation at all levels of government, create an initiative that supports decision makers and elected officials who promote policies that are beneficial to young professionals, and partner with existing civic and community based organizations to ensure that the change we hoped would happens comes. We cannot sit and expect it come to us.
